The  UNGEGN-2025  will take place at UNHQ in New York from 28 April to 2 May 2025. under the Theme:  Advancing geographical names standardization through inclusive, culturally-informed and evidence-based solutions to support sustainable development. UNGEGN sessions provide a forum where experts from the interrelated fields of geography, cartography, geospatial information, linguistics and history, from across the world come together to learn and share best practices and norms, new developments in geographical names administration and standardization. The session also highlights the Group's role as an enabler in preserving cultural heritage and where appropriate support relevant aspects of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The critical role of financing for development to transform agrifood systems and prevent and mitigate food crises.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is organizing a side event to highlight the critical role of all financing for development action areas to promote agrifood systems transformation and prevent and mitigate food crises . The key outcomes expected from the event include: Highlighting evidence and data which demonstrates the need for FFD4 commitments towards financing SDG 2 . Demonstrating the ways that financing for development have failed to keep pace with needs in agrifood systems critical to preventing and mitigating food crises. Presenting a conceptual framework to orient finance in agrifood systems towards transformative actions. Towards Transformative Outcomes at FfD4: A Dialogue between the International Commission of Experts and Member States.

The event aims to foster constructive exchange, assess proposals and political negotiations, and build shared momentum toward transformative outcomes at FfD4 and beyond. This side event brings together experts from the International Commission of Experts on Financing for Development and UN Member States for a dialogue on two key priorities of the FfD4 process: mobilizing significant investment for sustainable development and reforming the international financial architecture . The  ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development  will be held on 28 to 29 April 2025, followed by the  Fourth Preparatory Committee (4th PrepCom) Session  for the  Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4)  from 30 April to 1 May 2025. The Forum this year assumes added importance and a critical role in  mobilizing momentum and concrete solutions for FFD4 . Held back-to-back with the 4th FFD Preparatory Committee session, the deliberations of the forum will feed into the discussions on the outcome of the FFD4. Both events bring together heads of state and government, ministers and high-level government officials as well as senior officials of international organizations. Civil society organizations, the business sector and local authorities will also be represented. The FfD Forum is an intergovernmental process with universal participation mandated to  review the Addis Agenda and other financing for development outcomes ...
