Advancing SDG 6 in the ECE Region: Achievements, Opportunities and Future Pathways – On the Road to the 2026 UN Water Conference. This round table will bring together a variety of stakeholders on the road to the SDG 6 review at the 2026 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and the global UN 2026 Water Conference. The overarching objective of is to discuss regional priorities across the six Interactive Dialogues of the Water Conference, share success stories and exchange on the next steps at regional level to accelerate the achievement of SDG 6. The session thereby serves as a regional preparatory event for the 2026 UN Water Conference. Globally, the region stands as one of the most advanced regions when it comes to achieving SDG 6 on water and sanitation for all. However, challenges remain, and further efforts need to be made.    This roundtable will highlight practical financing strategies, showcase investment opportunities, and explore blended finance approaches to scale impactful investments in nature and water-related sectors. At the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Sevilla, Spain, Member States adopted the Sevilla Commitment, establishing a renewed global financing framework to close the SDG funding gap and accelerate sustainable investment. The follow-up process encourages countries to report progress and use the UN Sustainable Development Goals Investment Fair as a key platform for engaging private investors and mobilizing capital. SDG 6 and Water Action Agenda Special Event.

Introduced in 2020, the SDG 6 Special Event takes place annually during the High-level Political Forum giving space for discussion on water-related targets within the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework. At the mid-point between the upcoming 2026 UN Water Conference and the previous UN 2023 Water Conference - which saw over 800 commitments from governments, civil society, and the private sector under the Water Action Agenda - this Special Event will feature a discussion on how the inclusive and collaborative preparatory process driven by Senegal and the United Arab Emirates is building continuity and catalyzing global action for SDG 6 . Water Action Agenda commitment holders will discuss implementation and what enabling environments are needed for innovative solutions.
