SDG FAIR Investment Roundtable: Natural Capital and the Blue Economy.

This roundtable will highlight practical financing strategies, showcase investment opportunities, and explore blended finance approaches to scale impactful investments in nature and water-related sectors.

At the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Sevilla, Spain, Member States adopted the Sevilla Commitment, establishing a renewed global financing framework to close the SDG funding gap and accelerate sustainable investment. The follow-up process encourages countries to report progress and use the UN Sustainable Development Goals Investment Fair as a key platform for engaging private investors and mobilizing capital. In this context, investment in natural capital, biodiversity, and the blue economy has emerged as a priority, given their potential to support inclusive growth, climate resilience, and food security. Despite growing commitments, private investment in these areas remains limited, particularly for SDG 6 and SDG 14, which face significant financing gaps.

Following the adoption of the Sevilla Commitment at FfD4, countries are mobilising investment through the SDG Investment Fair, with a growing focus on natural capital, biodiversity, and the blue economy. This sector faces limited private financing; this roundtable will showcase strategies and blended finance solutions to scale that investment.
