The Forum brings together local, regional, and national governments, alongside United Nations leadership and key stakeholders, in a high-level, action-oriented dialogue focused on accelerating SDG delivery. The 2026 Local and Regional Governments Forum (LRGF) stands as a key political space of the self-organized constituency of LRGs within the multilateral system. Mandate The Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development (EMRTD) was established by the Human Rights Council in 2019 under resolution 42/23 as a subsidiary body of the Council. In carrying out its mandate, the Expert Mechanism holds annual meetings (see below), undertakes thematic studies and study visits, holds interactive discussions and consultations, participates in outreach and communications initiatives and reports to the General Assembly and Human Rights Council.   General debate (continued)UN@80: Catalyzing Change for Sustainable Development.  The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development encourages member states to conduct regular and inclusive reviews of progress at the national and sub-national levels, which are country-led and country-driven.
