(Day 2) Special Events - 4th International Conference on Financing for Development FFD4.

The special events of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development will convene high-level participants to discuss actions and the way forward of the Compromiso de Sevilla.

10:30 to 12:00: Investing in Global Solidarity: A New Vision for Development Cooperation.

In a context in which multilateralism is being questioned, leaders from South and North will come together with leaders of multilateral organizations, development banks and donors to debate how to renew and strengthen their commitment to international cooperation based on global solidarity and the achievement of sustainable, fair, and inclusive development for all. Their discussion will address, among other issues, how development cooperation can be protected from the current crisis of multilateralism; how recipient development priorities and donor policies can be aligned for maximum impact and new instruments to help increase aid effectiveness.12:30 to 14:00: Forging a common agenda to achieve debt sustainability in developing countries

South Africa and Spain have both made debt sustainability a key priority under the G20 Presidency and the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development respectively, seeking to find pragmatic solutions to alleviate the debt burden on developing economies, reduce the cost of capital and generate the fiscal space required to enable countries to invest in their people and economies.2:30 to 4:00 pm Mobilizing development banks to uplift SDG financing

The objective of the session is to convene a high-level debate regarding the role of Public Development Banks within the global financial architecture. It will serve as the launch event for the "Public Development Banks - Reference Book", published by Pearson. It is

intended to inform the broader FfD4 conference discussions and contribute to the formulation of actionable policy recommendations. Panelists will illustrate how PDBs are creating, enabling and/or accelerating systemic change through innovative financing solutions. They will discuss how to translate policy recommendations stemming from research into concrete operations.4:30 to 6:00 pm: From Monterrey to Sevilla and Beyond

The event will delve into the unique role of financing for development (FFD) conferences in global governance. It's the only global meeting that gathers official national, institutional, and non-state stakeholders for open dialogue on the coherence, consistency, and effectiveness of policies influencing financing for development. It will examine the processes leading to, and key outcomes of past FFD conferences—from Monterrey Consensus (2002) to Doha Declaration (2008) and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (2015)—to identify how the international community can leverage FFD post-Sevilla to achieve the global commitment to finance sustainable development.View less
