Launch of the Youth Recommendations Paper: Leveraging SDG 4 and SDG 8 to Empower Young Women in Agrifood Systems (HLPF 2025 Side Event).
HLPF 2025 Side Event organized by the Permanent Mission of Nepal and co-organized by FAO and UN Women.
The side event will serve as a platform to amplify youth-driven solutions and promote inclusive, community-based action toward sustainable agrifood systems. It will emphasize the critical leadership role of young women in shaping development pathways and reinforce the importance of consultative policymaking involving youth to support the advancement of the 2030 Agenda.
Framed around the principle of meaningful youth engagement, the event will emphasize the importance of youth leadership, particularly that of young women, in transforming policy into meaningful, community-level impact.
The session will begin with a welcome and an opening address framing the discussion on youth-led policymaking, featuring a keynote by UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, Felipe Paullier.
The first segment will highlight the official launch of the youth recommendations paper, with reflections on the consultation process and the role of youth in the SDG review mechanisms.
The second segment, titled "From Policy to Action," will feature an interactive dialogue on translating these recommendations into concrete action, including insights from the leader of the WFF Nepal Youth Chapter and other grassroots perspectives.
