Multi-stakeholder round table 4: "Upholding the multilateral trading system, and harnessing the potential of science, technology and innovation" - 4th International Conference on Financing for Development FFD4.

This round table will explore how global trade and innovation ecosystems can be strengthened to drive inclusive and sustainable growth.

The discussion will focus on trade and access to technology as tools for sustainable development, with a focus on addressing regulatory, infrastructure, and capacity-related barriers that hinder progress in developing countries. The conversation will examine the challenges posed by rising trade restrictions, increasing tariffs, and the impact of digital technologies on global commerce. Special attention will be given to the persistent difficulties faced by developing countries—LDCs, LLDCs, and SIDS—in integrating into global value chains. Participants will also consider the barriers to leveraging science, technology, and innovation (STI) for sustainable development, including technological gaps, inadequate digital infrastructure, and limited international support.
