Special Event on China's Initiatives and Progress on Implementation of the 2030 Agenda: China's Two-Mountains Theory For Advancing Sustainable Development (HLPF 2025 Side Event).


Held during HLPF 2025, this side event brings together national leadership, scientific expertise, and local practices to highlight how China is advancing the 2030 Agenda through its national strategy and integrated sustainable development efforts.

At this special side event, co-organized by UN DESA, and the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the UN, the agenda will spotlight China's initiatives and progress in advancing the SDGs, with a special focus on China's "Two-Mountains Theory" national strategy that emphasizes ecological preservation is integral to economic prosperity. The side event will explore China's national strategy for SDG implementation, the role of scientific research and geospatial innovation in driving evidence-based solutions for the SDGs, and a local case study highlighting local innovations and practical applications. The side event aims to foster knowledge exchange and promote international collaboration by sharing China's integrated approach to sustainable development—spanning national strategy, scientific application, and local action.
